Do you ever wish you could take a nap and wake up with noticeably better skin? Sounds too good to be true but I'm here to tell you that LED light therapy does just that!
LED (Light Emitting Diode) therapy is an under-appreciated, and under-utilized modality in the skincare industry. This non-UV, non-ablative (non-damaging), non- high heat producing light uses specific wavelengths of red/infrared/and/or blue light to trigger your skin's own healing responses and drastically increase ATP production in your skin cells. ATP is the cellular energy your cells use to heal, increase collagen production, decrease inflammation, increase circulation, and speed up cellular turnover. It's 'cell food'!
There are two different lights that are primarily found in spas and dermatologists offices- Red/Infrared light and Blue Light. The Red/Infrared light aides in all of the anti-aging aspects- decreases wrinkle depth, increases evenness of skin tone, increases hydration, and increases collagen production. The Blue light kills acne bacteria to prevent breakouts and is anti-inflammatory to aid in healing acne lesions.
I personally try to use this modality at least once a week. It is very relaxing, though very bright, and feels like I'm laying on the beach- without the harmful UV rays.
Results: I have had clients come in 2X per week for 4-6 weeks and I have seen AMAZING results- wrinkle depth diminished, hyperpigmentation greatly reduced, redness/irritiations completely gone, and blemishes disappear. I use the Celluma LED at my spa. It is portable, light weight (great for people who otherwise get claustrophobic) and is now FDA approved for treatment of wrinkles, aches/pains, and acne. You can read about the science behind LED technology here.
This modality is for almost everyone but always check with your practitioner if you are pregnant, prone to light-induced migranes/seizures, are on medications that make you more light sensitive, or are under a doctors care.
Have you tried LED Therapy before? What did you think? Did you get the desired results?
