Keeping hydrated can be a real struggle for so many. Plain water can be 'boring' while packaged on-the-go beverages often pack tons of sugar, stimulants, and/or toxic ingredients (hello synthetic colorants, I'm talking to you!). To get around this I have created a delicious, nutritious, beverage that I LOVE to sip iced all day long (though you could warm it up if needed). I am a Kombucha fiend and I find that this satisfies my Kombucha cravings without the added sugars/cost associated with my beloved fermented friend.
Not only is this drink delicious, it is also highly anti-inflammatory, boosts your immune system, and may just help you to fight off that nasty flu that is going around this season.
Read on for the recipe!
* 24-36 ounces purified water
* fresh ginger slices or 1/2 tsp Organic Ginger Juice (from The Ginger People) - adjust amount to taste
* 1 TBS Organic Apple Cider Vinegar- add more if you like it extra tart or less if you like it mild
(I just bought two huge bottles from Costco for about $6 total!)
* optional: 3-4 drops of stevia, a few slices of orange, or muddled cucumbers for a little variation and/or sweetness
* optional: lots of ice!
Just combine all of the ingredients, mix, and sip! So easy, so good, and so inexpensive!
Benefits of the main ingredients:
Apple Cider Vinegar: studies have shown it to reduce blood sugar levels, may lower cholesterol levels, and contains lots of polyphenols (antioxidants)
Ginger: helps to combat bacteria/viruses (Flu/cold), a common 'tummy trouble' remedy (nausea, morning sickness, sea sickness, sour stomach, etc), anti-inflammatory, and may lower blood sugar and fight infections
