New Heights Naturals Sunscreen Review

Picture
SPF is a passion of mine. 90% of pre-mature signs of aging can be avoided if we could just end our love affair with the sun! Alas, that is not going to happen so thankfully there are a myriad of options to keep you protected while still having fun in the sun.

New Heights Naturals, a family owned indie line based in Houston,TX, has arrived on the green scene with two clean SPF options and at pretty great price points! This company is run by a mom of two who just happens to be a practicing attorney and an entrepeneur so I had no doubt that these would be well designed products.

Now On to the Goods!

This past weekend we decided to take an impromptu vacay down to San Antonio...in late August.  That means 100+ temps, relentlessly bright sunny skies, and hours in the water.  I tried both the New Heights Naturals NEW SPF 30 Sunscreen Stick and the SPF 35 Lotion on my kids (4 and 6 year olds), myself, and the hubby.

New Heights Naturals SPF 30 Sunscreen Stick - Very Vanilla

Let's start this off with my kids' favorite - The SPF 30 Sunscreen Stick.  My kids LOVED the vanilla-cookie-esq aroma and I LOVED that this only had 4 (yes, only 4!) ingredients AND the kids could apply it to themselves.  Be careful with the pressure, you don't need a lot as it goes on pretty easily.  80 minutes of water resistance meant that we could spend more time having fun and less time wrangling wiggly children.  This stick went on a little thicker than some other brands I've tried (and be prepared for a white cast) but it also kept my 4 year old's cheeks from turning pink after 5 hours in the sun so I was a happy mama!

Ingredients: Non-nano Zinc Oxide (active ingredient), Inactive Ingredients: organic extra virgin coconut oil, organic vanilla extract, organic beeswax

This may not be strictly vegan due to the beeswax but it is cruelty free, and free of soy, gluten, dairy, and corn.  The inactive ingredients are 100% certified organic and the price point you ask?  Only $20.99 for 3.7oz!!  That is truly amazing for  a certified organic sunscreen (compare to $26 for 1oz of Coola Sunscreen).  Now my kids can go hog wild and I won't blink an eye!

New Heights Naturals SPF 35 Lotion

The SPF 35 Sunscreen Lotion was my favorite of the two.  It went on smoothly and easily.  The white cast was minimal (occupational hazard when using natural zinc products).  I loved how 'dry' feeling this lotion was.  I've tried several well known brands that took FOREVER to soak in and blend with my skin.  This was not the case.  It instantaneously soaked right in so for once I was the first one ready to go.  Yay!!

This product does not really have much of an aroma so it would be great for individuals with sensitivities.

Ingredients: Active Ingredient: non-nano zinc oxide, Inactive Ingredients: El Dorado Springs artesian spring water, certified organic extra virgin olive oil, certified organic beeswax, vegetable vitamin E (non-GMO from sunflower), cholecalciferol (Vitamin D3)

Now, don't be concerned when you apply it and get a little water coming out with it.  It's just part of the formulation.  Make sure to knead the tube and apply as usual.

So there you have it!
This brand is relatively new to the scene but I'm excited to see what they come up with next!
Have you tried New Heights Naturals? What did you think?

It's just lately when I realized the importance of putting sun screen on our face. You may have your vitamin C and glutathione, but those products will not work on you if you are exposed under the sun without even putting a sunblock on your face as well as with your arms. It's terrifying to experience it. Good thing because my dermatologist suggested that I should get some for me to maintain my clear skin. I've been putting sunblock for five months now, and I am getting benefit for that.
