There's nothing like indulging in a little 'home spa' time to reset after a long day, am I right??? As a mom of 2- bath time is sacred and, quite unfortunately, in short supply in my household. I look forward to and plan for it. I even plan out my product rituals in advance.
There are a few requirements for the special products that make the cut:
(1) all natural (and I mean really All Natural, not the green-washed pseudo-Natural), cruelty-free, and non-toxic (preferably with organic ingredients)
(2) They have to feel indulgent and be nourishing for the skin.
(3) They have to smell AMAZING!
Prairie Bloom's Vanilla Rose Coffee Scrub and Goddess Bath Soak, and Body Butter ritual were the perfect end to the week AND hit all of the criteria for a happy mama...
As a mom of two little people (7 and 5), I am always looking for cost effective ways to get everyone clean in a healthy way. I am not a huge fan of conventional soap simply due to the fact that the high pH of soaps can mess up your skin's microbiome (aka the 'good' bacteria/microbes that live in/on your body) but I've come to find that sometimes you just need to get the job done!
Dr. Jacobs Naturals is a Brooklyn based natural soap company specializing in Castile soap. When using soap I do prefer Castile soap as it is olive oil based soap and I find that it is less drying than other soaps that I have used. Dr. Jacobs Naturals formulas are free of palm oil, "artificial ingredients, colors, parabens, phthalate, propylene glycol, lauryl/laureth sulfates, and triclosan".
I had the opportunity to try the Citrus and Sweet Tea Tree varieties of their liquid castile soap as well as the lavender variety of the loofa bar soap. The liquid version was my favorite of the two types. This castile soap has a thicker viscosity than others that I have tried which was a major plus - it stays put when you pump it out rather than just running through my fingers like my Dr. Bronners. This is also a bonus when the kids spill it in the shower- it spills less!
The Lavender Loofa Bar soap smelled lovely but it seemed to dry my skin out more than the liquid.
All in all, this is a great multipurpose brand with a great price point. Clean ingredients, smells great, and cleanses well. On top of that, it is a green beauty bargain price-wise so I don't stress when my kids use 30 pumps at a time! What more can you ask of your basic soap?
